great for beginners & seasoned pros alike

For almost 60 years , golfers have been coming to Noel to enjoy the scenic Ozark beauty while playing a round of golf at Elk River Golf Course .
“ Elk River Golf Course has been in continual existence since 1966 as a nine-hole course ,” said Terry Lance , mayor of Noel . “ If you play it twice , it is roughly 6,700 yards from the tips .”
Every hole offers unique challenges to even the most accomplished golfer . The course plays 3,334 yards from the blue tees ( back tees ). Elk River has two par 5s , two par 3s and five par 4s .
“ You have to have a pretty bad shot to completely take yourself out of the hole ,” mused Lance . “ Although , you know , we do have some trees , the greens are pretty small so you have pretty decent second shots . It ’ s a nice little course and a great course to learn

the game on because it is fairly wide open but it ’ s long .”
Lance has lived in the area since he was 7 years old and has been a member of the Elk River Golf Course since 1998 .
“ Elk River is unique in that it is a member-owned course , so if you are a member you are also a part owner ,” he said . “ It is a 501 ( c )( 4 ) not-for-profit corporation .”
A new board of directors oversees operation and improvements . The pro shop and its kitchen have been upgraded with a remodel . New golf carts and the newly seeded greens are in and playable , looking great .
Anyone is welcome to play , Tuesday-Sunday . Tee times are not required . Call ahead on summer weekends to see if the course is closed due to a tournament , or check on
